I am reading the Golden Compass by Phillip Pullman. You probably read in my last blog the origin of most of the charactars. I read for two and a half hours this week. The part I read was just getting to know Lyra. She is a wild girl who plays all around at the college she lives at. She climbs on the roofs, plays underground, and has wars with other kids. She plays a lot. She has wars with the kids called gyptians. They just do a ton of stuff to each other. Kids start disappearing and people are wondering why they are being taken. They call the people taking them gobblers. I dont know why they are taking them but they are. A lady called Mrs. Coulter was lured this boy in by asking him if he wanted chocolate. He followed and he ended up with a big group of children. Then when Lyra is eating dinner with the scholars Mrs. Coulter is there. Lyra doesnt know that she is the gobbler but just thinks she is the best person in the world. In the morning the guy called the master says Lyra is going to be Mrs. Coulter's assistant and she is going to go with her. Lyra is really excited to go. Mrs Coulter's house is the most perfect house, and she says that she will take Lyra on a trip to the north.

This week I started the Golden Compass by Phillip Pulman. I've heard a lot about this book, everyone who has read it says its great. Its starts out with a girl who is curoius about the room that all the scholars meet in to discuss things. She gets stuck there hiding when the butler comes in. She has to hide in the wardrobe of coats. Her name is Lyra and her uncle is coming to visit. His name is Lord Asriel. He comes to the university to give a presentation for the scholars. So while shes hiding in the wardrobe the butler comes in and puts wine out before her uncle gets there. Then the main scholar comes in and puts poisen in the wine. When her uncle comes to drink it she bursts out and stops him from drinking it. He says for her to get back in the closet, and she does. Then all the scholars come to see the presentation. Lord Asriel shows them pictures that he took. They are the same pictures but different devoleped of something. It's of this stuff called Dust. He shows the northern lights and there is a city in the middle of it. They let him go on the expedition to go see what it is thats happening there. The last expedition that went to the north pole they found the leaders head. I read for two and a half hours

I read the titans curse for my book this week. I finished it today. Its a book about the greek gods, and demigods which are their children. Percy Jackson is the main character. He is the son of Posiedon the god of the sea. The titans are trying to raise up and deafeat the olympians (gods), because the olympians pretty much trapped them, and made them slaves kind of. There is Annabeth who is the daughter of Athena the goddess of wisdom. There is also Thalia the daughter of zues who is the god of the sky. They also have a freind Grover who is a satyr, one of those half goat half human guys. The goddess artemis is captured by the titan atlas. So the heros have to go on a quest to save the goddess Artemis. On their way they meet a lot of different monsters like a manticore and a giant lion. When they get to where artemis is being held they find that she is holding up the entire sky. That is Atlas's job. But Atlas is free and reeking hovoc. There is also an army forming to destroy the olympians. It was Percy's freind Luke who betrayed them who is the cammander of that army. I read for 2 and a half hours.
